Cartoon - Ice Breaking

I spent several years in upstate New York when I was a kid and I remember driving around in the winter to the local lakes and seeing people camped out on the ice, skating, sliding ice fishing, etc. There was this one lake where every year a group of guys would push some old jalopy, a broken down car from the junkyard, out onto the ice in the middle of the lake and leave it there. People would then make bets as to the date and time it would fall through as the ice slowly melted into Spring. The local people would line the shore with folding chairs, bring coolers and sit wrapped in blankets watching for the big moment.
